Conference Hotel

Founded in the 10th century, Goslar is located in the centre of Germany,
close to the Harz mountains
.

Its wealth, due to rich deposits of silver and copper ores, led the Emperor Henry II to establish his imperial palace at Goslar in the 11th century.
During the 11th and 12th centuries, Goslar was one of the most important places of imperial activity of the German Empire and the scene of 23 meetings of the Reichstag, the legislative assembly; it became one of the residences of kings and emperors who stayed at the imperial palace about a hundred times. Today Goslar is a charming small town with half timbered houses, nice shopping facilities and many restaurants in a vehicle-free zone.

Join a conference
at the favourite site of emperors.

How to reach Goslar

Goslar is located 50 km south of Braunschweig in the south east of Lower Saxony, at the edge of the wonderful Harz Mountains. The nearest airport is Hanover Airport (HAJ). There are excellent road and rail connections to Goslar.

By air:

The main inter continental airports are Frankfurt and Munich. We recommend that intercontinental travellers book connecting flights to Hanover. Hanover, Berlin and Frankfurt are the closest “short haul” airports. Goslar can be reached by road or rail from these airports

The Airport of Hannover (HAN) is the closest international airport.

Because of very little demand, the Shuttle-Bus-Service from the Airport to Goslar will be cancelled.

By Train:

Via Hanover: trains from the west and north stop at Hanover central station, which is also connected to the airport by a regular “S-Bahn” service. There are direct trains from Hanover to Goslar. Beware that some trains are not direct services.

“Der Achtermann” - Hotel and congress centre

The conference will be held in the charming hotel “Der Achtermann”.
In an historical setting, spanning 500 years of history,
the congress centre tastefully combines the traditional and the modern (http://www.hotel-der-achtermann.de/index_e.htm).

Some of the meeting rooms are very modern in style, while others offer a more traditional environment with wooden floored banquet rooms. The hotel is located close to the pedestrian area of the historical part of the old town of Goslar.
