Wernigerode
The “colourful town“ is located at the northern edge of the Harz Mountains. Wernigerode is a medieval town with half-timbered houses. The oldest of them can be traced back to 1400. High above the city you can visit the castle of Wernigerode, which allows views into its baronial rooms. Looking down from the castle, you can marvel at the Harz Mountains wonderful landscape with its highest peak, the Brocken.
